Dylan Cam

The hoomans were having a birthday treat today so I've taken over the blog to give them a rest - a new HD version camera arrived first thing...and a  rugged one too - I think that's cos mum broke her last one when she fell flat on her face in the river trying to get me to put a toe in the water - some days I just don't fancy a dip.

Anyway , it was a bright and early start and then after a quick run around the park....they left me! Off to see some movie or other at the Odeon so they said. All I got was this:

Not impressed.

Then we were off to the train station....now I don't know if you know this, but I'm not a fan of the iron horse....I can just about manage being on them but climbing on while some loud human shouts 'mind the gap' is just not my cup of tea. BUT it was mum's birthday so I trotted on today without protest.

It wasn't so bad after all. But I still slung the brakes on when it came to the return journey. Force of habit.

I like to look out of the window on the train .
Here's my birds eye view of what it's like for a pooch off on the train

Atchoo!

We finally arrived at some little Hassocks Town - from there a quick stop at the pet shop and then off for a ramble before coming home.

Nice but I would rather be off lead chasing dogs and rugby balls. Ah well, can't have it all. At least when I got home I managed to find some mischief.

Mmmmmm....BEETROOT !

The hoomans said it looked like a scene from Aliens  !

Dylan at Ditchling - Antics with Sticks

And so it begins - the tale of two sticks

The big race: Welsh V Small Human ....Welsh wins

The big fight: Welsh V Collie...Welsh wins

(Postscript: seconds later, clever collie sneaks over and takes the stick back back - this part of the film remains unpublished to maintain Dylan's pride.

Dylan on the Downs

July has arrived and what a beautiful day! Up to the South Downs we went this morning. It was a long old walk getting past the multitude of sheep and rabbit droppings going to the first hill, but once we were up there Dylan became a model citizen. Just look at him in the videos below. It's amazing what a hot fur coat and a bit of sunshine will do to a boisterous little Welsh fella.

We had a lovely walk and Dylan and I met Lola a lovely rescue dog from a local village with one of her staff. They invited us to the annual village Summer Fayre this year and suggested Dylan be entered into the dog show! I'm not sure they know what they would be letting themselves in for!

Dylan Goes to Goodwood

We stayed at a beautiful holiday cottage this weekend. Dylan loved the floor to ceiling windows and views of the fields - he spent most of the weekend on 'sentry duty' keeping an eye on passing rabbits and flocks of birds. Heaven for puppy dogs! Trips to the beach, a dog-friendly country pub with GREAT food ( best Sunday lunch we've had for a long time - and I include my own !) ..and a local farm shop- a fantastic time had by all and good start to 2010!

Dylan at Devil's Dyke

Another scorching day. Little Dylan was in the doldrums this morning as I think the heat was too much for him so I popped him in the car this afternoon to see if I could finally get this little sea-dog to swim. Only this time, I decided to avoid the waves (which give Dylan the heebie jeebies!) and go to a little pond on Devil's Dyke where I've seen dogs splashing around . Dylan perked up immediately we got out of the car and realised he had new territory to explore. After some scampering around in the shady forest tracks we got to the slime filled pond. Dylan wasn't sure immediately whether he wanted to go in so took to barking at the pond for a while and running around the outside. Eventually he found a bit of bank in the most slime filled area and dropped right into the water (if you can call it that). He loved it!

Later, after a good run around in the dip of the Dyke, we came back home where I fashioned a 'poor dogs version' of a paddling pool to wash off the slime and help him cool off. An old cardboard box and ikea bag will do nicely I thought. Filled it up and he was straight in! You can see the results below. I don't think he approves of ikea....off to Freecycle to see if anyone has an old paddling pool to get us through the summer!
